NEW HOUSE Brighton East

Richard Kerr’s mix of sinuous wall curves with hard concrete forms set strong guiding principles for the interior of this house. We explored the idea of how to produce an interior that is visually interesting & engaging whilst only using a very limited mix of natural materials. It’s a pared back palette that is essentially colourless, relying on grand gestures of light & dark finishes contrasted for drama. To achieve the clients’ desire for an elegant, refined & sophisticated version of luxury, softening elements of billowing curtains, reflective mirrors & atmospheric lighting tie in seamlessly with complex joinery deftly resolved to create what appear to be simple solutions. The design process for this house was an exercise in the maxim “simplicity is complexity resolved”.

PENTHOUSE FITOUT East Melbourne

Arguably one of Melbourne’s best apartments, this penthouse enjoys 270 degree views around the CBD & looks out over the Fitzroy gardens. To capitalise on such an amazing position the clients’ brief was for the apartment to feel like a sophisticated New York address as if it was overlooking central park. With this in mind we approached the furniture design & layout loosely around the concept of public & private spaces.

NEW HOUSE Brighton East

The Cube House is the second release with Inform Design and again our brief was to completely redesign the interiors. For this house we introduced a whole range of new design ideas focused around concealing appliances & storage by thoughtfully building in customised joinery. We stripped everything back for a contemporary less is more approach. The finishes are a mix of classic oaks & white tones with pops of colour in furniture & artworks all held together by an unexpected soft grey walls throughout.

NEW HOUSE Balwyn

Designed by Leon Meyer Architects for Inform Design, the Encore House was the first to be released as part of a strategy to set new benchmarks in the residential market. For the interiors, we were required to thoughtfully update what had been a sell out classic design. Staying with the architect’s floor plate, we revised all the joinery design, detailing & specifications to reflect current design trends, whilst introducing completely new designs for the bathrooms & built in joinery. Classic finishes & furnishings complete the interior.

COUNTRY HOUSE Kyneton

Against the advice of family & friends, our clients bought this well-worn country cottage desperately in need of some love & attention. Originally unsure if their ideas were going to work, we reviewed the plans, and completely turned things around by flipping the kitchen into the bay window, moving the living room close to the fire & adding a much needed mudroom & butlers pantry onto the side of the house. From there, the design was a collaboration of sorts, providing advice on everything from lining boards to stain colours to tiling details. Finished with clients’ talented eye for styling, the house is a fantastic example of relaxed country chic.

TERRACE RENOVATION East Brunswick

IDEA 2011 Awards - Finalist Best Residential Interior Single Dwelling
The house was a dilapidated renovators delight that had been well loved by university renters when the clients bought it. On the ground floor, the renovation focused on knocking off the rear kitchen lean to & extending out to reconfigure a powder room, kitchen & living area. Whilst upstairs, we configured a family bathroom in what was the rear bedroom & converted the existing miniature bathroom into a nursery. The remaining bedrooms, dining room & playrooms had carpets stripped, new joinery & paintwork. One of the key elements of the design was removing a large section of wall in the dining room to open up the middle part of the house that was previously dark and poky. The effect was dramatic and now provides important view lines through which to navigate the house.

APARTMENT FITOUT South Yarra

Our client had been on a long hunt to find the right city apartment and commissioned us to take care of the furniture fitout once they found it. Referencing from their already well established artwork collection, we selected new & old pieces, deliberately scaled to suit the compact living spaces in bold colours to work with the strong architectural envelope yet still hold their own place.
